What is Statue of Liberty?

The Statue of Liberty, a hollow colossus composed of thinly pounded copper sheets atop a steel structure, lies on an island at the entrance to New York Harbor. After the completion of the 100th anniversary of America since they gained Independence in 1876, France presented the iconic structure of Liberty Woman to America. The main or, say, authoritative sculptor or designer was Frédéric Bartholdi, who, in association with the engineer Gustave Eiffel completed it.

From the nineteenth century, Liberty Woman is considered as the time’s greatest and technological achievement. Its design and construction were hailed, and it became a link between art and engineering at the time. From atop her pedestal, the Statue of Liberty has embraced millions of tourists to the United States since her dedication in 1886, and that was designed and sculpted by a famous American architect said to be Richard Morris Hunt.

With a lot of concrete in the foundation, electricity to light the torch, flexible curtain-wall construction to sustain the skin, and the inside iron structure is a scary and ingenious mix of engineering, architecture, and art.

What is Colossus of Rhodes?

Colossus of Rhodes is said to be the primary source of inspiration behind building the iconic sculptor of the Statue of Liberty. The Colossus of Rhodes was a third-century BC statue. It is invariably depicted as a person almost naked and wearing a crown of sunlight and carrying a torch, but the structure has been destroyed. With the Statue of Liberty, the analogy is remarkable; we are here in the real style of Bartholdi’s masterpiece. It was composed of bronze and was 32 meters tall.

It took 12 years to build, starting in 292 BC. The grounds for its creation were straightforward. The people of Rhodes (a Greek island near Turkey that was once independent) withstood a horrific siege in 304 BC.

Édouard René de Laboulaye, along with Bartholdi, cooperatively and simultaneously worked on the Statue’s concept, which was to represent worldwide friendship, peace, and progress, particularly the historic alliance between the two countries that is the United States and France. It also had a large amount of funding from international subscriptions. The Statue in the left arm is holding the Declaration of Independence of the United States, also the shattered shackles in the statue from which she steps are both highly powerful symbolic parts of the design.
