Difference Between Ovulation and Menstruation

Ovulation vs Menstruation

The reproductive system of the female anatomy has two main parts, the ovaries and the uterus. Uterine and vaginal discharges are created inside the uterus, and it also exists when the fertilized egg cell proceeds to develop into a fetus while the eggs are created in the ovaries. Both of the ovaries are also responsible for the creation of egg cells or ova and for hormonal discharges. They are seen adjacent to the pelvic cavity walls. One of these egg cells is located at the left portion and the other is seen at the right portion.

Ovulation occurs when eggs or ova are created in both ovaries. It is an intermittent process in which mature ovarian follicles are discharged and split eggs or ova. For the period of the ovulation process, the matured egg is released by the ovaries prepared to be fertilized. If fertilization does not occur, the uterine walls are shed off and blood will be released from the woman’s body. This is known as a female’s regular menstrual cycle, also termed a period. Menstruation or period can be covert or overt. A covert period occurs if the endometrium is reabsorbed by the human body and occurs in most female mammal species, such as dogs, cats, etc.

Female human species experience overt periods or menstruation. Bleeding can occur inside the uterus and egresses through the vagina. This is what people commonly refer to as their monthly period. A regular period or menstruation commonly lasts from two to six days that starts from the initial day of bleeding until it ceases. The menstrual bleeding commences gradually then slowly increases and then is reduced after a couple of days. Throughout her menstrual period, a woman can feel a certain pain, cramps, emotional disturbances, and headaches.

Women commonly feel uncomfortable, unusual tiredness, and mood changes. The menstrual process lasts for 28 days, and ovulation happens during a specific day of the menstrual cycle, the 14th day. Throughout this time, a female will experience mild pains and have a raised sense of sexual urges and smells. During ovulation, it naturally occurs or it may be provoked. A female who has oligomenorrhea, a state wherein menstruation occurs occasionally, may be managed by inducing ovulation. It is as well utilized for in vitro copulation.

Apart from the physical attributes, at ovulation, there is a maturity and receptivity of giving some physical facade, the readiness to join with another human being and cultivate a new life into life, to partake in the process of generation. During menstruation, this potential new life expires and is discharged. It is a more lone incident. Females can be amenable, but it is not for copulation with another person but more of a yearning for a union with her own self or God. It is an instance for release and cleansing, a time of preparation and regeneration for the next process. It is important for each human female to know her own cycle, for her to be aware of her normal and irregular cycles.
