Difference Between Amazon Kindle Fire and New iPad

Amazon Kindle Fire vs New iPad

The Amazon Kindle surprised a lot of critics by selling a lot of units despite being short on specs. With the release of the new iPad from Apple, let’s inspect on which one is the better fit for you. The biggest difference between the Kindle Fire and the new iPad is the size. The Kindle Fire is much smaller than the new iPad and roughly two thirds the weight. The size of the device is largely dictated by the size of the screen. The Kindle Fire only has a 7 inch screen compared to the new iPad’s 9.7 inch screen. A large screen is better for watching videos, reading, and browsing the internet. But with the added weight, it can be quickly tiring, especially if you like holding the device with one hand. One of the main features of the new iPad is its retina display that increases the resolution to a much higher 1536 x 2048.

For the rest of the hardware, it is clear that the Kindle Fire is at a disadvantage. The new iPad has two cameras with the rear-facing one having a respectable 5 megapixel resolution. The Kindle Fire doesn’t have any camera, so you can’t use it to take pictures, videos, or for video chatting. The Kindle Fire also lacks two connectivity features, Bluetooth and cellular connectivity. All iPads have Bluetooth and 4G is available on certain models only, but you can have it if you really want it.

It is also worth noting, despite most people probably knowing already, that the new iPad and the Kindle Fire do not use the same OS. The new iPad still uses Apple’s iOS operating system while the Kindle Fire uses a modified version of Android. Not really that much of a difference there since you can probably get apps for either with the same or similar functionality.
