The Xterra is a compact Sports Utility vehicle, which has Xe and SE models. Both the models vary in many ways, such as in their drive train, transmission, entertainmet systems and other features.

When talking about the engines, both the XE and the SE models have the same specifications. Both of them come with a 3.3 L engine, and have a horsepower of 170 at 4800 rpm. Both the engines also have the same transmission, and also the same fuel efficiency.

One of the main differences that can be seen between the Xterra XE and SE, is their exterior features. The Xterra is black around the headlights and the grille. It also has a silver features, such as the roof rack, wheels, step rails and lower front fascia. On the other hand, the Xterra SE trims come with a dark titanium finish on the exterior, wheels and accessories. While the Xterra XE gauge comes in a gray gradient colour, the Xterra SE comes in a blue gradient.

When looking at their curb weight, the Xterra SE is heavier than the Xterra XE. Where the Xterra SE comes with a curb weight of 4092 lbs, the Xtrerra XE has a curb weight of 3933 lbs. While the Xterra XE has a wheel diameter of 15 inches, the Xterra SE has a wheel diameter of 16 inches.

Coming to the safety, the Xterra SE comes with more added features than the Xterra Xe. The Xterra SE has added safety features, like a Selective Unlocking System and a Vehicle Security System.

With regards to the entertainment systems as well, the Xterra SE has a better system. The XE trim has an AM/FM 100 Watt Audio System, which includes 6 speakers and a single disc CD player. On the other hand, the SE trim has added features like the Preset Scan, P T Y Features, 6 Disc CD Changer and Radio Data System.

The interiors also have many differences. The seats of the Xterra XE are woven cloth seats. On the contrary, the Xterra Se has moquette cloth seats. An added feature of the Xterra Se is the tinted glass sunroof (flip-up).
