Difference Between Nokia E7-00 (E7) and Nokia 700

In the mobile phone market, rivalry is the key to the success and thus, internal rivalry is also at the significantly higher rate. Nokia E7 and Nokia 700 are two such internal rivals. We have to tell you that these phones were released quite some time apart from one another, which would make the Nokia E7, the one released earlier, look like a bit of an understatement for a comparison. Nonetheless, let us work on it along the line. Nokia E7 directly comes from the communication series and has a QWERTY keyboard in addition to touchscreen, which is a good feature for business people. Nokia has taken significant care in order to keep the dimensions of the phone as low as possible to compete in the slim phone market, but been a slider phone 13.6mm thickness is superb. On the other hand, Nokia 700 comes with new and better features and is a thin design too. Needless to say that this is due to the influence of the trends in the respective times the phones were released (February 2011 and September 2011).

Nokia E7-00 (Nokia E7)

Nokia E7 comes with a big 4 inches AMOLED Capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels and features a pixel density of 184ppi, which is quite low. It also has the unique Nokia ClearBlack display and multi touch input as well as proximity sensor and accelerometer. Since the phone has a QWERTY keyboard, it comes into the bulky spectrum of smartphones and weighs somewhat high. Nokia E7 features a 680 MHz ARM 11 processor with a Broadcom BCM2727 GPU, which in itself is in the low range, but considering the time the phone was released this is a pretty decent processor. It has a RAM of 256MB in line with the processor, which is more than enough to accommodate a good user experience. Nokia E7 comes with Symbian^3 OS but can be upgraded to Symbian Anna OS which is a good value for money. The 8MP camera is also a good addition for the price it is offered, and since Geo-tagging is enabled with A-GPS and video capturing is possible at 720p, the camera has some cutting edge. This smartphone comes with several colors like Dark grey, Silver White, Green, Blue and Orange and feels comfortable in hands.

E7 promises high speed internet through the built in HSDPA 10.2 Mbps ad it also has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n for continuous connectivity. The front camera along with the Bluetooth v3.0 and A2DP is a good addition to enjoy video calling functionality seamlessly. Nokia E7 features 16GB internal storage which cannot be expanded using a microSD card. It has well laid business applications that would be jovial for the business users. The active noise cancellation, digital compass, TV-out with HDMI are good additions for the phone and enabling the flash lite has made it possible to explore flash content through the phone, yet it is said that the performance is quite lagging.

We have been expecting good battery lives from Nokia, and E7 does indeed exceed expectations in that avenue. Featuring a 1200mAh battery, E7 promises a talk time of 9 hours, which is admirable.

Nokia 700

Nokia 700 comes either in white or grey color; monotonous? Yes, but still vividly colored compared to the color spectrum of available smartphones. It features a 1GHz ARM 11 processor with a 2D/3D Graphics hardware accelerator with OpenGL ES 2.0 support. The 512MB RAM provided with the phone is marginally sufficient to give a good user experience, as well. This has landed it in a high stand compared to Nokia E7. Nokia 700 features a 3.2inches AMOLED Capacitive touchscreen with 360 x 640 pixels resolution and 229 ppi pixel density. It also features multi touch input method and accelerometer and proximity sensor. The internal storage is 2GB and unlike E7, can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card.

Nokia E7 features the new Symbian Anna OS, while Nokia 700 comes with a more improved version of Anna OS, called Symbian Belle OS. It is true that the Symbian OS is in its last days, but it has not prevented from Nokia introducing new versions of it. The new Symbian Belle OS has taken an edge to make the Symbian OS more and more like iOS or Android. It has free-form, differently sized live widgets in its extended 6 home screens. It has an improved status bar, and rather modernized navigation to enhance the user experience. Nokia has made sure to introduce a variety of applications for Belle OS that includes the powerful business app from Microsoft which includes Lync, Sharepoint, OneNote and Exchange ActiveSync which is a brilliant move. Surprisingly, Belle OS also supports Near Field Communication, which is something we all have to look forward to. It also gives a virtual snap of the applications you are running currently before switching to one of them, just like Windows preview in the task bar. Belle OS also has an informative lock screen which provides you the details like missed calls, unread message count and more.

Having powered by a pretty neat OS, Nokia 700 does not fail to entertain fast browsing speeds with the HSDPA 14.4Mbps link along with the Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. It comes with a 5MP camera which has Geo-tagging enabled with A-GPS and can record videos at 720p. But Nokia 700 lacks the front camera, which is a heartbreaker for video chatters. Among many new features introduced, Nokia 700 has the NFC support and a TV-out, which comes in very handy. It also has a browser that partially supports HTML5, but the flash content is still sloppy. Nokia 700 has a 1080 mAh battery, which can score a decent talk time of 7 hours, which is not bad for a smartphone.

Even at the start, it can be seen that, this was not a fair comparison in the point of the phones. They were addressed to separate trends at distinct time intervals. Nonetheless, we have found out that, these phones go hand in hand at the market. Nokia E7 would be good for the business personnel who do not bother about having the tech savvy phone in their hand, but concentrate on getting the job done. The only drawback is that, Nokia E7 seems to come with a high price tag. On the other hand, Nokia 700 is a good choice for balanced business professionals who wants to get things done and still wants a tech savvy smartphone for a decent price.
