Difference Between HTC Desire S and Samsung Galaxy Ace

HTC Desire S vs Samsung Galaxy Ace – Full Specs Compared

HTC Desire S and Samsung Galaxy Ace are two Android phones in the same range with 3.5 -3.7 inches display, but the other features are very much different. HTC Desire S and HTC Desire HD were designed by HTC following the success of HTC Desire that won multi awards in 2010. HTC Desire HD is at the high end with a huge 4.3 inches display while Desire S is conveniently sized at 3.7 inches. Similarly the success of Galaxy S prompted Samsung to add Galaxy Ace and three other Galaxy phones (Galaxy Fit, Galaxy Gio and Galaxy mini) to the Galaxy family, to cater to the diverse demands of smartphone users. Each one of them has been designed to meet the unique needs of the users. Galaxy Ace sports a 3.5 inches display and designed keeping in mind the upwardly mobile young executives. Both the phones are trendy little smartphones which are simple, yet elegant.

HTC Desire S

HTC Desire S has the same aluminum unibody but unlike HTC Desire HD this is smaller and lighter. The 3.7 inches Desire S runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) with the improved HTC Sense. The processor is the same 1GHz Scorpion CPU with Adreno 205 GPU (SoC: Second Generation Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon) used in HTC Desire HD and HTC Incredible S. The RAM size (768MB) and the display type (super LCD with WVGA resolution 800 x 480 pixels) are also the same. But since the display size is smaller, the effective pixel density is higher giving a better image quality. However under direct sunlight the colors may fade slightly.

The Aluminum unibody architecture with the scratch resistance Glass protection for the display give a solid feel to HTC Desire phones. On the rear side it has a 5MP camera, LED flash and the speaker. The camera is reasonably good and can record HD video at 720p. In the front it has 1.3MP VGA camera for video calling.

The HTC has headed to customer complaints and has slightly improved the battery. 1450 mAh Li-ion battery is used in HTC Desire S.

On the software side HTC Desire is pre installed with Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) with the new HTC Sense 3.0. HTC Sense gives a new look to the homepage, however the widgets are the same old ones. HTC Sense also has introduced some useful new features.
