What is a Full Bed or Double Bed?

As mentioned above, both full bed and double bed are the exact sizes; both are 54 inches wide and 75 inches long. Thus, there is no size difference between the two. Full/double beds are bigger than single beds and can accommodate two people. However, they are smaller in size than queen beds and king beds.

Size Chart

  • Single – 39”x 75”
  • Full/Double – 54”x75”
  • Queen – 60”x 80”
  • King- 76”x 80”

As evident from the above chart, a full/double bed has the same length as a single bed; their difference is in width. If two people share but a double/full bed, each person has only 27″ of personal space, which is less than the space available in a single bed. Therefore, although full beds or double beds can accommodate two people, many people find it too narrow for two adults and prefer bigger beds. Since the length of the bed is typically 75”, it may be too short for an adult as well. Therefore, many people prefer queen or king-sized beds.
