Difference Between Crop and Capri

Capri and crop pants are commonly heard names of women’s clothing these days, and it is also common to encounter girls and even men wearing these variations of pants. However, as besides length, there is not much to choose between a Capri and a crop pant. With both Capri and crop pants seen so often during summers these days, it becomes necessary to know the differences between them to be labeled as fashion conscious.

Capri

Capri pants are not a very old concept, and they came to light during 1950’s because of the efforts of an Italian fashion designer. In fact, these short pants were seen flaunted by women in the Capri region of Italy very often, and this is the reason why they were labeled as Capri pants. It was in the 60’s that Capri became popular in the US because of being worn by Marie Tyler Moore in a TV series. Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn wore capris to immortalize this fashion clothing for women. After a dip in popularity in the 70’s and 80’s, Capri once again became popular at the start of the century and is today extremely popular around the world among teenage boys and girls.

Capris are long shorts that end at calf length and are often paired with T-shirts. They can be worn on both casual-sports shoes and heels. Capris have become a casual summer dress for both men and women as they are not only stylish, they are also very comfortable.

Crop Pants

Crop pants are pants that have been suddenly cut at the shin. They go down to the ankle and end at the ankle bone. They are not to be confused with capris that are casual summer wear as cropped pants can be worn as formal wear also in place of regular pants. These pants are worn by both men and women, and they look as if you have outgrown them and they do not fit you anymore. They look good on sneakers without socks. You can wear cropped pants down to office provided they are not made of denim fabric. Crop pants are best described as short pants as this is what they are, having been abruptly cut at the shin length.
