Justice vs Grace
People are often confused between justice and grace not by their definition but how they are often used to apply for law and order both in divinity and morality issues. While both have two distinct definitions and applications, there are still much argument on which one deserves merit.
Justice
Justice is a word that encompasses both divine and human law. Justice, according to the dictionary, is to uphold what is just in line with fair treatment and just rewards congruent with honor, law and standards. For most people who have been victims of one crime or another, justice is achieved when the offender is punished. It’s a form of vindication to regain self-worth, pride and dignity.
Grace
Grace, as defined in most religious congregations, is the unmerited favor from God. Sinners that we are, we have fallen short of God’s glory however we were given a gift and that is the opportunity to inherent in men the will to constantly seek out God and strive to be holy, if not worthy of His favor. Grace is that small voice inside you telling you to do good deeds, to pray, to give praise and thanks.
Difference Between Justice and Grace
The difference between justice and grace is that justice can easily be achieved because man has created a universal law that sanctions those who violate it. If a person is wronged he can seek justice by sending his offender to court. On the other hand, grace is a continuous process of seeking and working toward perfection. While some people might say that grace gives men the leeway to keep committing sin, this is not so because if you have the sanctifying grace in you, you will seek to turn away from sin and be closer to God.
Justice is man’s standard of achieving equality and redemption by vindication; grace, on the other hand, is the search for divinity and favor from God. In a way, receiving grace is justification in the sense that if we have the sanctifying grace, we can afford to forgive and do well in service to others. Even the wrong that has been done will be forgiven.
