Difference Between Modern Art and Ancient Art

Modern art and ancient art are two kinds of art that have inherent differences from each other as they exist and were made in different time periods. Because of evolutions of tastes and emergence of different approaches to art, the differences are more glaring and magnified.

Modern Art

Modern art is not to be confused with what is made now and is considered as pop art. Modern art is a movement that happened in the years that started in 1860 and ended in 1970. There were a lot of changes that transpired in this era that made art-making more radical and not uprooted from the support of the Church, the government and the upper crust members of society.

Ancient Art

Ancient art traces its root from way back, meaning 35,000 BC and ended in the Middle Ages. As history dictates, Ancient Art got most of its support from the various sectors of the society especially from the Church and the Aristocrats. Even the governments in existence at the time had their say. Perspective and depth of what was made was not present in ancient art.

Difference between Modern Art and Ancient Art

Modern art did not get support from the Church and other aforementioned sectors of the society; Ancient art got its support from the so-called Patrons of the art especially the Church and the upper crust members of the society at the time. Modern art was revolutionary, pushed the envelope in art making and was more forward thinking; Ancient Art did not give emphasis on depth and perspective. Modern Art was more expressive as it was able to experience more changes in society; Ancient Art was straight forward, upfront and did not require much thinking.

So there you go. Both movements in art have made their significant contributions to the way art is made right now but they are still very different.
