Call of duty was first released in 2003 and is a first shooter (FPS) game. It is a video game that is based on shooting, guns, weapon combat that is in a first-person perspective. The player controls the protagonist (main shooter in the game). It is a video game franchise that was published by Activision. It is compatible with many platforms like play stations, Microsoft windows, IOS, Android, etc.

Battlefield is a video game that was first launched in 2002; it is a first-person shooter game. The first game released was named ‘battlefield 1942’. The game has many features like large maps, vehicle warfare, and teamwork. ‘Electronic arts’ is the publisher of the game. It is compatible with platforms like XBOX, Microsoft window, play station, etc.

What is Call of Duty?

Call of duty, most popularly called COD, is a first-person shooter video game. It is a video game franchise that was published by Activision publishing Inc. it was first released in October 2003. They provide their players with a very dynamic experience with their changing eras in settings for a great mobility experience. 

The first games were set in World War II, and then there were sets like outer space, cold war, futuristic worlds, etc. The first and the second game were developed by the infinity ward in 2003 and 2004, respectively. A COD series called the Call of Duty 4: modern warfare worked wonders and paved the way for new modern settings and helped to create a modern warfare sub-series. A re-mastered version was released in 2019 as a result of the game’s great legacy.

There were so many sub-series and games they released like modern warfare 2, 3, infinite warfare, ghosts, a world at war, black ops, etc. all these different series and games were developed by different developers like the infinity ward, sledgehammer, etc. these series are also recognized and verified by Guinness world records as a bestselling FPS game series.

In 2012, a free online multiplayer game was released by Tencent games in the name of Call of duty online. It has different exciting modes like hero ops (single-player mission), cyborgs, etc. The overview of the game, as the name suggests it allows you to perform the assigned or obligated tasks (duty) going through various themes and sets. It is a battle against (as opponents) or with other players in the multiplayer mode. They have smaller maps and a faster pace because of the low time to kill and the use of vehicles and aircraft.

What is Battlefield?

Battlefield is a popular video game that first-person shooting game. It was first released in 2002 with its first game called the ‘battlefield 1942’. An American video game company, electronic arts inc published this game. Johan person is the creator of Battlefield.  

Since 2002, it has had 11 games and 12 expansion packs. The games have special features like large maps, teamwork, usage of vehicles, etc. they have online multiplayer battles. Players can also play in squads. You have to solve the challenges and conquer victory. Few series even let their players record their online statistics. Which helps them unlock weapons and receive ranks and promotions, all this based on their performance.

Different game series is compatible with different platforms such as Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, Xbox 360, play station 2, 3, 4, etc. Battlefield series provide a realistic experience to their players as they do not usually have sci-fi-like movements. They have chosen to stick to their roots and have their boots to the ground feature. 

Battlefield 1942, the road to Rome, secret weapons of WWII, battlefield Vietnam, battlefield 2, etc., are a few examples from their extensive list of series.

Main Differences Between Call of Duty and Battlefield

4. Call of duty provides features like a fast pace, smaller maps, less time to kill, usage of vehicles and artefacts; provides a very dynamic experience whereas battlefield has features like a little slower pace, large maps, teamwork, online multiplayer battles; provides a very realistic experience.
5. Call of duty has modes called frontline, free for all, domination, search and destroy, etc., whereas battlefield has modes like frontline, free for all, domination, search and destroy, etc.

Conclusion

In the generation where there is a wide variety of games to chose from, people can get confused as to which game to play and which not. There is tough competition in the gaming sector. Each game improves its games, brings in new changes, and features, and modes. People play one game for a while and stop if they get bored, and hence the creators need to update their games now and then.

Call of duty and battlefield has various modes, and people have been playing them for over a decade or two now. Yes, there might be one which is more played or more interesting, but their main motto of entertaining their players is fulfilled.
