CST vs. EST
“CST” and “EST” are common abbreviations that are used among people and travelers within the United States, Canada, and Mexico. It is a common understanding that due to the alignment of the Earth with the sun, there are various time zones throughout the world. “CST” and “EST” are two abbreviated time zones that are in the Eastern half of the United States. The time zone difference means that there are certain states and cities that are experiencing one time, for example, 8:00 p.m., which in the next time zone over there are other places that are at 7:00 p.m. Time zones are typically studied in elementary education. However, for those who do not have an understanding and knowledge of CST and EST, it can be rather confusing.
“CST” is the abbreviation for “Central Standard Time” zone. This time zone is one of four in the United States and covers states like: Alabama, Louisiana, Michigan, and most of Texas. Central time zone is also observed in the Canadian provinces of Manitoba, most of Ontario, and parts of Nunavut and Saskatchewan. Some Mexican provinces included are Oaxaca, Durango, Chiapas, and Veracruz.

In Central America, the island of Panama and some countries in the Caribbean still utilize Eastern Standard Time as well. Central Standard Time zone is considered six hours behind the Coordinated Universal Time, and is affected by daylight savings times throughout parts of the year. Eastern Standard Time is considered five hours behind the Coordinated Universal Time and is also affected by daylight savings time. The Eastern time zone is the earliest time zone in the United States. It is before both the Central, Mountain, and Pacific Time zones. This Central Time zone is located one hour behind the Eastern Time zone, one hour ahead of the Mountain Time zone, and two hours before the Pacific Time zone.
