Difference Between Fentanyl and Heroin

Fentanyl vs. Heroin
Both Fentanyl and Heroin, although both derivatives of morphine, have a number of important differences. Abuse of both Fentanyl and Heroin is common and there are long-term physical effects of using either for any extended period. Additionally it has become popular across the country to use both Fentanyl and Heroin as a combination narcotic. This combination is even more dangerous than when taking the drugs alone and is a hundred times more likely to lead to overdose and death.

Fentanyl is a narcotic analgesic which is used to treat pain which appears quickly and severely in people. It is a synthetic opiate which was created in 1960 to treat sudden onsets of pain in patients before surgery. Today, Fentanyl is available through prescription from a medical doctor in the form of a patch, a pill, and what is known as a lollipop. The drug is more potent than the largest dosage of morphine, however with the strength comes side effects. Some side effects include: shortness of breath, dizziness, hallucinations, anorexia, and weight loss. Patients who are prescribed Fentanyl should be sure to only ingest the recommended dosage set by your physician, dependency can develop if not careful. Physicians closely monitor all patients who are prescribed the drug.
Heroin is a dangerous narcotic which is formed from the seed pods of poppy plants in Asia. This narcotic is another form of morphine, which is used as a pain killer in medical procedures. There is white and brown powdered heroin and there is sticky ‘black tar’ heroin which is dark black. Those who are addicted to heroin can smoke it, snort it, or inject it directly into the blood stream through various parts of the body. Addiction and health problems result from prolonged use of the drug, and over dosage is common. Heroine is illegal in the United States and can lead to arrest and incarceration if someone is found under the influence or in possession of the drug.
Fentanyl and Heroin are both forms of the drug Morphine which can have severe side effects on its users.
