Difference Between Get and Have (With Table)

Both get and have are the transitive verbs but have a different perspective as get uses the first form of the verb and have uses the second form of the verb and both have different meanings to get means to receive and have means to possess.

Get vs Have

The main difference between get and have is that get is used in the present tense only and it is used in a positive sense whereas when we talk about have it is used in a negative sense. Have is used in present and future tense both. Sometimes it happens that both sentences have the same meaning.

Get is the first form of the verb which means to receive. It is a transitive verb or the verb which shows some action and affects the subject. Get is also used as an order to someone for example get me that glass of water. And this is a positive type.

Have is the second form of the verb which means to possess or contain. It is also a transitive verb or the verb which shows some action and affects the subject. This is also used as a compulsion or the direction that we give to another person to perform or to complete that.

What is Get?

Get is a transitive verb or we can say irregular verb or modern verb which shows some movement or action that affects the subject. It uses the first form of the verb. Get means we receive it or find it from someone or from somewhere.

We have so many ways where we use to get and the conjugations of get are I get, You get, We get, They get, He gets, She gets, One gets, It gets nad is also used with the name of the individual as Monika gets. As we know the meaning of get is to receive something or acquire or obtain something for that some examples are, I get a good salary per month(i receive a good…) or he gets many gifts on his birthday(he receive many gifts…). Likewise get is also used to fetch something or also used as a command to someone to do that task, for example, Get me the glass of water! or can you get me that book from the near store?

for example, I get angry when he breaks my frame (and get can be replaced by becoming here like) become angry…, or we can say laura gets nervous in her exams(become nervous). These are how we can use get.

What is Have?

Have is also a transitive verb or we can say irregular verb or modern verb which show some movement or action that affects the subject. It uses the second form of the verb. Have means we possess it to own it as it is our own thing.

And like get we can use have also in many ways and the conjugations of having are I have, You have, We have, They have and when it is used with the singular form have converted to has and then the conjugations are He has, She has, It has, One has, Rohan has. The meaning of having is to possess, own contains which is slightly different meaning from the get. Some examples are, we have enough money for the holiday (hold for use) or she has a daughter(possession).

The other use of having is to experience the joy or pain or even to command someone to do something. For example, He has hurt me badly(pain) or this party has been a great(joy), or have Sam report to me immediately! (order), have a meeting tomorrow at 9 a.m. or Sam has gone through a very bad day(emotion and feelings are expressed) these are some examples of different forms in which have is used.
