Google Chrome 10 vs Chrome 11 | Compare Chrome 10 vs 11 Performance and Features
Google Chrome is a web browser developed by Google. It uses WebKit layout engine and V8 JavaScript engine. Chrome is known for its security, stability and speed. Chrome provides high application performance and JavaScript processing speed. Chrome was the first to implement the OminiBox, which is a single input field that works as the address bar as well as search bar (though this feature was first introduced by Mozilla for their browser Firefox). Google Chrome was first introduced in 2008 and now it is currently in its 11th. Due to its comparatively (very) short release cycle of 6 weeks, Chrome 11 was released within two months after the release date of Chrome 10. At the moment, Google Chrome is the third most widely used web browser and around ten-percent of browser users in the world use Google Chrome. One negative criticism that is associated by the users is its comparatively high emphasis on usage tracking functionality.
Google Chrome 10 was released in March of 2011. Google Chrome 10 offered an impressive set of features, in addition to its high security, stability and speed. It offers the user to change the default zoom level of the page. This feature facilitates the need to zoom-in/zoom-out while connecting the computer to a TV. Another option it provides is the ability to change the minimum font size. A truly useful feature is the ability to synchronize passwords. You can also reorder the applications (“apps”) on the new tab page using drag and drop. Chrome also provides hardware acceleration for web videos. Built-in adobe Flash plug-in had been sandboxed while it introduced background pages. What it means is that, even after you close the browser, it will run in background (an icon will be displayed in the taskbar), and this will be very useful for the uninterrupted execution of applications like Gmail Notifier.
While Google Chrome 11 (released on 27th May, 2011) posses all those impressive features of Chrome 10, it introduced several amazing new features some of which are in fact introduced for the first time ever in to browsers. An HTML speech translator, which uses the power of HTML5 has been introduced. The user can speak in to the computer or any other device running Chrome browser and it will convert your speech in to 50 other languages. User can even listen to the real-time translation using the listen feature. GPU-accelerated 3D CSS support has been added. What this means is that, Chrome will support websites with 3D effects using CSS. Another noticeable difference is the introduction of new version of their Google icon.
As a summary, Google Chrome 11 introduces several key new features, which were not available in Google Chrome 10. Firstly it supports a nice HTML Speech translator. Furthermore, it supports GPU-accelerated 3D CSS support. Other notable improvements present in Chrome 11 are security update to the Adobe plug-in, bug fixes to Cloud Print feature and User Agent String changes. It also includes several security changes from Chrome 10, including the change that fixes the URL bar spoofing. And Finally, Chrome 11’s new Icon is different than the icon of Chrome 10.
