Hip hop and trance are two music variations that has now greatly influenced the society.

Hip hop music was developed as part of the influence of the hip hop culture. The origin of Hip hop music can be traced to the 1970s. The music genre has its origins in Bronx, New York city. The music has also been traced to African Americans, which had some sort of influence on Latin Americans. With humble beginnings, hip op has now transformed into a big movement and has incorporated many elements like break dancing, DJing, rapping and graffiti art.

Trance music has also its origins in the late 20th century, especially during the late 1980s. It is a musical genre that is based on electronic equipment and which uses a particular type of tempo music. Trance is known to have emerged from acid house movement in United Kingdom. The Trance is a combination of many forms of electronic music like industrial, house and techno. Its compositions include beat ranges in range of 130 to 160 beats per minute.

When talking of the etymology of the two words, the credit of the word hip hop goes to Keith “Cowboy” Wiggins, a rapper with the Grandmaster Flash and Furious Five. It is said that word hip hop was used by him for the first time while teasing a friend who had just joined the US Army. On the other hand, the origin of Trance is uncertain. Some say that the term has been derived from Klaus Schulze album Trancefer (1981).

In hip hop, the instruments include turntable, vocals, synthesizer, drum machine, guitar, sampler and piano. Whereas, Trance music uses sequencers, samplers, synthesizers and other electronic effects.
