HTC Droid Incredible 2 vs iPhone 4 – Full Specs Compared
HTC Droid Incredible 2 and iPhone 4 are both sharing Verizon’s CDMA network and HTC Droid Incredible 2 is another competitor for iPhone 4 from HTC family. Already HTC Thunderbolt is giving a stiff competition to iPhone 4. HTC Droid Incredible 2 is also built with the same next generation 1GHz processor as like HTC Thunderbolt, which is very fast. In fact HTC Droid Incredible 2 is the US version of Incredible S, HTC’s flagship handset at the MWC 2011 in Barcelona. Incredible 2 is the US version of HTC Incredible S, which is for global market. It will join the Verizon’s red eye Droid series with Samsung Droid Charge. Verizon is using the red eye logo to differentiate them from Motorola Droid handsets. Talking about differences, everything is different, from hardware to software they are very much different.

HTC Droid Incredible 2 features a faster next generation 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 processor (the same processor used in HTC ThunderBolt), 4 inch WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) super LCD display, 768MB RAM, 8MP rear camera with dual Xenon flash that can capture HD video at 720p. The super LCD display is very clear and produce vivid colors, better than the display of the previous Incredible. On the design side, it is similar to HTC Incredible S, there is no physical button in the front. The on screen button rotates when you change to landscape.
For connectivity it has Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth v2.1 with FTP/OPP for file transfer and a microUSB port available on the left side edge.
The other features include surround sound environment via SRS WOW HD, Bluetooth A2DP for wireless stereo headset,DLNA, GPS with preloaded maps and unified inbox for all email accounts.
The phone runs Android 2.2.1 with HTC Sense, but the operating system is upgradeable to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). HTC Sense offers 7 homescreens that can be customized.
It’s a world phone with the capability to roam globally, so you can carry this phone when you go outside US.
HTC Droid Incredible 2 is another addition to Verizon’s Droid series and HTC Droid Incredible 2 release is marked for late April 2011 with a price tag of $ 199 for 2 year new contract.
iPhone 4
The iPhone 4 has an attractive design and a beautiful display that no one can deny, and it’s slimmer compared to HTC Incredible 2. It features a 3.5 inches LED backlit Retina display with higher resolution (960 ×640 pixels). The touchscreen is highly sensitive and scratch resistant. iPhone 4 is powered by 1GHz A4 processor, 512 MB RAM, internal memory options of 16 or 32 GB and dual camera, 5 megapixel 5x digital zoom camera at the rear with LED flash and 0.3 megapixel camera at the front for video calling.
The iOS version for Verizon iPhone 4 is iOS 4.2.6. It’s not compatible with the newest version iOS 4.3.1. The good thing is it has USB tethering and mobile hotspot features. The web browser is Safari, but it does not support Adobe flash player while Android 2.2 supports Adobe Flash Player 10.2.
For connectivity, there is Bluetooth v2.1+EDR and Wi-Fi 802.1b/g/n at 2.4 GHz.
The smartphone is available in black and white colors in candy bar form. It has dimensions of 15.2 x 48.6 x 9.3 mm and weighs just 137g. iPhone 4s front and back glass design though acclaimed for its beauty had criticism of cracking when dropped. To overcome the criticism of display fragility, Apple has given a solution with vibrant color bumpers. It comes in six colors: white, black, blue, green, orange or pink.
The iPhone 4 CDMA model is available with Verizon for $200 (16 GB) and $ 300 (32 GB) on new 2 year contract. And a data plan is also required for web based applications. The data plan starts at $20 monthly access (2GB allowance).
