Difference Between Ivory and Cream

Ivory vs Cream

Ivory is only a shade of white colour. Ivory colour is called thus as it resembles the colour of the tusk of elephants. We all know about white colour and its significance. Ivory, which is the new colour trend, has a slight shade of cream or yellow colour.

Earlier there was a trend to go after white wedding dresses. White was considered to be more elegant when going to tie the wedlock. But this trend is no more and people prefer ivory or cream coloured wedding dress. The bride and the bridegroom prefer ivory to white as it would go along with the skin complexion. If white dress is used, it can show off the paleness.

Unlike white colour, Ivory comes with a sight darker shade. It can have undertones in beige, yellow, gold and peach. When compared to the white colour, the Ivory colour is considered to be a warm colour.

White colour often does not clash with other colour palettes. However, Ivory colour could make a clash with some other colours. It has been noted that Ivory coloured dresses do not match with neon or tropical colours. Traditional pink, pastel shades, lilac colours and sage greens go well with Ivory colours. On the other hand, white colour is known to go along with almost all the colours.

Though embroidery and filigree work can be done in white dresses, it shows much better in Ivory coloured dress.

More and more people are shifting towards Ivory colours than the traditional white colour. Most of the people consider Ivory colour as more charming.
