Difference Between Jehovah’s witnesses and Christians

Jehovah’s witnesses vs Christians

Christianity, by definition, is a belief system that reflects the teachings of Jesus Christ which technically qualify Jehovah’s witnesses as Christians since they do follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. However, Jehovah’s witnesses believe in their different version of Christ which brought a lot scrutiny among Christ-centered religions.

Jehovah’s witnesses asserts that they are Christians however, mainstream Christians consider Jehovah’s witnesses as heretics for the latter believes that Jesus Christ and God is not one and the same, a very stark contrast from Christianity’s view of a Trinitarian God ‘” three separate beings as one God.

For Jehovah’s witnesses, there is only one God, and that’s Jehovah; whereas Christians believe in the Holy Trinity of God’s presence ‘“ God as the father, as the son (Jesus Christ), and God as the Holy Spirit. The view of Christians about this Trinitarian God is condemned by Jehovah’s witnesses. For Jehovah’s Witnesses, the Trinity is a satanic dogma of apostate Christianity that prevents people from knowing the true God, Jehovah.

The very apparent disagreement between Jehovah’s witnesses and Christians is their view of Jesus Christ. Similarities in both will end in the belief that Jesus is the son of God and also divine. Yet, JW strongly affirm that Jesus is not God and, though divine, is not equal and always below God. Christ and the Archangel Michael are thought to be one and the same in the belief of Jehovah’s witnesses.

Christians believe in the apocalypse as declared in the book of revelation. Yet, they do not know when it will happen. They just believe that it will and some Christians even believe that it may be happening but no exact date or event has been given as the start of the end of time. Jehovah’s witnesses have a different view of the apocalypse and how it will work out. Probably, the most notable among them is that a date was given. 1914 is supposed to be the year that started it all according to Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Summary:

1. Jehovah’s witnesses believe that God is Jehovah alone while Christianity believes in a Trinitarian God ‘” a God in three separate beings.
2. Jehovah’s witnesses believe that Jesus is God’s (Jehovah) son and completely separate from God; Jesus is also believed to be the archangel Michael. Christianity, on the other hand, asserts that Jesus is the son of God but also God himself as avowed by the Holy Trinity.
3. Jehovah’s witnesses believe that the end of time is now which started happening in a definite time, 1914. While Christianity, though also believe in the end of time, does not know when will that happen, no definite date whatsoever.
4. Jehovah’s witnesses believe in Holy Spirit as God’s active force while Christians think of Holy Spirit as also God himself.
