Difference Between LED and QLED (With Table)

A similar word is being confused by the people, and they considered both the items are the same. People often considered both LEDs and QLED is the same; there is no difference between them. Let me clear it both led and QLED are very much different from each other and have also had different properties.

LED vs QLED

The main difference between LED and QLED is that the LED stands for light-emitting diodes. On the other hand, QLED stands for Quantum dot light-emitting diodes.

LED also stands for light-emitting diodes. It is also a type of LCD TV that uses light-emitting diodes. Led tv backlight the display rather than using cold cathode fluorescent lights, which are used in an LCD television. This tv is most commonly known as LED backlight LCD television.

QLED stands for Quantum dot LED television. Quantum dot is actually a display device that uses semiconductor nanocrystals and quantum dots to make pure monochromatic green, blue, red lights. QLED television is only an LCD television that can have quantum dots.

Comparison Table Between LED and QLED

Parameter of comparison

LED

QLED

Meaning

The word LED stands for light-emitting diodes. It also refers to small, efficient light that releases the light when the electric current passes through it.

The word QLED stands for Quantum LED television. This display device uses semiconductor nanocrystals, which can make monochromatic green, blue, red lights.

Picture quality

LED does not deliver much higher quality pictures and color volume compared to QLED.

It delivers a higher quality of pictures and good color volume as compared to led.

Power consume

LED consumes less electricity as compared to QLED.

It consumes more electricity as compared to LEDs.

Expensive

LED television is more expensive as compared to QLED.

QLED television is less expensive as compared to led.

Brightness level

LEDs deliver more brightness in the picture without consuming more power.

QLED was not able to deliver a minimum brightness level without consuming more power.

Contrast level

LEDs can deliver sharper and rich color along with great dynamic contrast, and it also delivers the wider color along with greater light intensity.

QLED also delivers more excellent contrast and bright white and true black colors, as in QLED, each pixel has its lights.

Technology

LED uses the technology just like the LCD television, which has light-emitting diodes to backlight the display rather than cold cathode fluorescent lights

QLED uses quantum dot technology to release the light.

What is an LED?

The word LED stands for light-emitting diode. It is also referred to as small, efficient light, which releases the light when the electric current is passed. It is very much different from CCFL backlit LCD TV in every way. LEDs can produce a picture with excellent dynamic contrast, and this television is very much thin compared to LCD television.

The leading technology behind the development of LED is actually back in from 1960. At that time some scientist was working on the chip of semiconductor material that soaks the impurities to a create-n junction or positive-negative junction. There are two forms of LED; one is white edge LEDs, which are positioned all over the edge of the screen so that the light is spread even behind the screen by using a special diffusion panel. Another one is Dynamic RGB LEDs are placed behind the panel.

It is used to believe that different techniques have been used. Three most commonly used in the edge-lit LED are white LEDs that are placed around the edge of the screen, which also spread the panel so that it lights the display. The second one is the Edge-lit LED display, which is commonly very thin. And the third one is an RGB LED that is situated behind the panel. RGB LED mainly focuses on the area to dull more specifically. In RGB LEDs displays, there is no capacity for localizing dimming.

What is QLED?

The word QLED stands for quantum dots light-emitting diode. This television is treated as the modern generation television display, which is promoted by Samsung for the excellent newer and advanced LED television. Sometimes this technology looks like the 90s or something as the term quantum dots, but it is considered the future of television display as stated by Samsung to its part of the marketing ploy. It is just more than the image quality.

As the term, this technology uses quantum dot technology to release the light by giving an extra layer of tiny particles before a regular LED backlight panel, which shows a better result in rich colors, dynamic contrast, color accuracy, and peak brightness. It sounds very much familiar to the OLED. Well, let me clear this up, and It is a very much different technology that allows over a billion colors.

Main Differences Between LED and QLED

  1. Both the televisions provide nice viewing pictures; if you are at the center of the television, neither provides excellent viewership at far off-angle.
  2. LED television does not deliver higher picture quality. On the other hand, QLED television has this advantage as it delivers an excellent picture quality compared to LED.
  3. LED television is more costly. On the other hand, QLED television is not as expensive as compared to LED.
  4. LED televisions consume less power and deliver maximum brightness levels. On the other hand, QLED was not able to deliver minimum brightness without consuming more power.
  5. LED television uses technology, just like LCD television. On the other hand, QLED television uses Quantum dot technology.

Conclusion

As the primary difference between LED and QLED television have been told, it is clearly seen that both perform a different function, and both are used different technology. LED stands for light-emitting diode, whereas QLED stands for Quantum LED television.

One delivers superb picture quality, and one consumes less electricity and delivers a maximum brightness level, so it is very difficult to tell which one is better and which is not. It depends upon the customer to buy it according to their preferred taste.
