LG V10 Review – Features and Specifications

Recently,  LG has been creating a wide variety of smartphones and although the LG G4 was not a wild success, to say the least, here comes another device which has been developed looking into the future. It has many of the features that are present with LG G4. The noteworthy feature is that the device is packed up by a rubber package and the rims of the phone are made up of stainless steel.

Another feature is the fact that there is a secondary display present on top of the primary display which displays additional functionality. The camera also comes with a manual mode to capture videos, which is an essential feature for videographers.

Design

LG phones have always preferred plastic over metal in designing its phones. But with the LG V10, metal has been added in order to increase the durability of the phone. Only the frame is made up of metal, though, and the exterior is same as before. The back cover can be removed, and it is made up of Dura guard silicon which is scratch resistant. This material is soft and feels like rubber. There is a textured effect on the rubber to give it more grip. This texture is broken up into  grids which are squares. It reduces the attraction of the phone a bit, but increases the grip and makes the phone easier to be held.

Durability

There is also a stainless steel frame (SAE grade 316L) which has also been included to increase the grip of the phone even further. The durability also increases due to the addition of the metal strip. The special feature is, even if the LG V10 is dropped, it will be able to survive without a scratch. This has been certified by MET laboratories which confirm that it could survive a fall of up to 48 inches.

Features

As with many other handsets available in the market, the power button will also function as a fingerprint scanner to secure functions. It is situated at the rear of the phone with the camera module and volume controls. The LG V10 is more durable and could be easily gripped compared with the LG G4 due to the above-mentioned reasons.

Secondary Screen

A unique feature of the LG V10 is the secondary screen that comes with the phone itself. This screen is placed on top of the phone where notifications are usually displayed on the other phones. The resolution of the screen is 160 X 104 pixels, and it uses IPS technology. The main display comes with a  QHD display with a resolution of 2560 X 1440. Although these two displays are separate, the display looks like a single one. This screen is able to display a variety of information such as time weather, battery usage, and other information. The notifications will be displayed on this screen instead of the main screen which is convenient when playing games or watching videos. When swiping, the secondary screen will display more information and options. When the primary screen is active, the secondary screen will display contacts, apps and key features that need to be accessed quickly.

Performance

A variety of features can be adjusted using the manual mode of the camera. Some of the adjustments are shutter speed, focus and white balance. Even the audio quality can be adjusted on the device. This smartphone comes with four mics, and the user has the ability to choose from where the sound comes from. It is also able to video with 4K quality.
