Difference Between Nokia N8 and Sony Ericsson Aino

Nokia N8 vs Sony Ericsson Aino

Nowadays, phones do more than just making calls and sending text messages. It is now a must for smartphones to have multimedia capabilities to entertain a user as well. The N8 and Aino are two phones that no longer bank on their capabilities as smartphones, but they flaunt their supposedly secondary abilities. To start with, the N8 is a candybar while the Aino is a slider. Aino has the benefit of a keypad and additional soft keys whenever needed.

Both devices have touch screens but the N8 seems to be the winner in this aspect. The N8 has a 3.5 inch AMOLED display while the Aino has a 3 inch LCD display. Resolution also goes to the N8 as the Aino has a very low 240×432 resolution. There is also a minor problem with the Aino when it comes to the touch interface. Only certain applications can take advantage of it, namely the multimedia and java apps, while others are forced to resort to the keypad. As the N8 is fully reliant on the touch interface, it is understood that it can be used regardless of where you are in the system.

When it comes to the operating system, the N8 has the Symbian^3. Although quite new, Symbian^3 is expected to takeover S60 as the main Symbian OS. On the other hand, the Aino runs on a distinct operating system. So you shouldn’t expect a wide selection of apps aside from Java.

The camera of the N8 is superior to that of the Aino; despite the latter sporting an 8 megapixel snapper than can churn out pretty great pictures. The N8 has a 12 megapixel sensor with an excellent lens and Xenon flash. The N8 can also take 720p HD quality video at 24fps and stream it to your TV via HDMI. The Aino camera can only manage VGA (640×480) quality video.

The Aino’s strength is in music and Sony Ericsson is keen to stress that point. They’ve added a wireless headset and a dock with every Aino, whereas most phones only supply a standard wired headset. These extras cost a lot when purchased separately, so they add more bang to the buck for the Aino.
