Peanut butter and nutella are food spreads that have been widely used. While Peanut butter has been widely used in the US, Nutella has been in long use in Europe.

Nutella is said to be an Italian answer to peanut butter. One can find that Nutella is more delicious than the peanut butter.

A food paste, Peanut butter is made from roasted ground peanut. It comes either in “crunchy” or “smooth” varieties. Peanut butter is made of hydrogenated vegetable oil, salt and sweeteners.

Nutella is a hazelnut and chocolate spread. It is a modified version of gianduja. The main contents in Nutella are sugar and vegetable oils, hazelnut, cocoa and skimmed milk.

Coming to the origin, it can be seen that peanut butter has been in use for longer years than Nutella. Peanut has its origins in the 19th century and Nutella’s origin is traced to the 20th century. The origin of Peanut butter can be attributed to Marcellus Gilmore Edson. Pietro Ferrero created Nutella in the 1940s.

In terms of nutritional contents, Nutella comes with more calories and fats than peanut butter. When 2 teaspoons of Nutela contains 200 calories compared to 190 calories  in Peanut butter

In sugar content, the Nutella serves more sugars than peanut butter. When 2 teaspoons of Nutella comes with 21 gm of sugar, it is just 1 gm in Peanut butter. The protein level in Peanut is much higher than in Nutella. When comparing 2 teaspoons of peanut butter and Nutella, the former contains eight grams when it is just 3 gm in the other.

Coming to the spread, though the two spread evenly in room temperature breads, Nutella has a slightly upper edge over peanut butter. In toasted breads, Nutella becomes more fluid and slides across it with ease than peanut butter.
