RRSP vs RSP
Today people look to have better savings after retirement and, as such, they put their money in various retirement programs. People are more attracted to these retirement plans as they are very attractive for a retired life and come with a secured amount of income to have a stress-free, retired life. One can come across various retirement plans. Retirement Savings Plans, or RSP, and Registered Retirement Savings Plans are two of the best plans available. These two plans are mainly available in Canada.
Both RSP and RRSP are very much sought after as they come with many features. Though people say that RSP and RRSP programs are the same, they are in fact different in many respects. One main difference is that the RRSP is registered and the RSP is not. As the Retirement Savings Plans are not registered, it is not entitled to benefits from the government. But as RRSPs are registered, they enjoy a lot of government benefits. But with an RSP, no one can have any guarantees. As an RRSP is established through legal trusts, it has more security and credibility than an RSP.
When considering the different features that come with the two retirement plans, an RRSP comes with more benefits and features when compared to an RSP. The Registered Retirement Savings Plans include pensions, insurance, and other benefits. On the other hand, Retirement Savings Plans just cover the retirement plans.
One of the benefits of both plans is that they come with tax benefits. Both the plans are available with banks, financial institutions, and other trust companies. Some of these institutions, however, may just have a single policy and may not have the other. Some of them may have both plans. So it is better to talk to the respective institutions before you finalize any plan.
