Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan are two stars of the trinity that has been ruling Bollywood for the last two decades (third in the trinity is Aamir Khan). Both Salman and Shahrukh are a craze among crores of fans around the country as well as a sizeable population abroad. Both started their careers around 1990 and have maintained their positions at the top despite giving a few flop movies in between. Their careers have some similarities in the sense that both have never been recognized as great actors. However, there are differences between these two stars that will be highlighted in this article.
Salman Khan
Despite his age (he is 45), Salman Khan is a rage among teenage girls which speaks volumes about the ability of this man to drive boys and girls crazy with his style, mannerisms and dancing. His latest release Ready, coming after the super success of his last film Dabaang, has already been declared as a major hit that confirms Salman’s status as the most successful star in Indian film industry.
Salman shot to fame with his Maine Pyar Kiya opposite Bhagyashree which was produced by Rajshri productions, and turned him into a star. He emerged as a young, handsome hero with a romantic image though he had the body to flaunt and played action roles with ease. His USP, right from the beginning has been his dancing abilities. Salman has a unique style of his own that is enough to get a huge opening for his every new film.
After his initial films where Salman played action hero, Salman tried his hands at comedy where he teamed up with Aamir in Andaz Apna Apna, and soon he changed his style into an action hero who had a lot of humor. In between, salman has given a lot of flops but has emerged stronger with every subsequent hit and of late, has given a string of hits to become the biggest selling star of Bollywood.
Shahrukh Khan
Not for nothing is Shahrukh called King Khan or Badshah Khan in film industry. Barring a few average films, nearly all of his films have proved to major hits at the box office. He started his career with small roles in TV serials. He got his first break in Bazigar where he played the role of an anti hero and mesmerized the audiences with his antics. The trend continued in a few more films like Anzaam and Darr where he played the role of a jilted lover.
Soon, Shahrukh became a superstar with his films commanding tremendous openings at box office and his presence was a guarantee of success. Though not really known for his acting prowess, Shahrukh has defied critics with his stupendous success. He had a frail body but he surprised everybody when he worked had and developed six pack abs for his Om Shanti Om with newcomer Deepika. He surprised many with his stellar performances in off beat films like Chak De India and Swades.
Difference Between Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan • While Salman belongs to a family with film background, Shahrukh is a shining example of a total outsider rising to the top in Bollywood • While Salman had a masculine body right from the start, Shahrukh built body very late in his career • Salman began with a romantic hero image that he turned into action and finally into a humorous hero.
