Galaxy Player 5
Samsung had in its arsenal many devices ranging from smartphones and even tabs; the only ace missing was a media player. Now that missing link has finally been completed with the launch of Galaxy Player 5. Samsung has finally delivered the people who were longing to see a Android based media player. This media player runs on Android Froyo 2.2 that can be upgraded to Android Gingerbread 2.3 later on. It has the advantage of Samsung’s legendary UI called TouchWiz.
Galaxy Player 5 runs on a fast 1 GHz Hummingbird processor, has Android Froyo 2.2 with TouchWiz as its OS and has 8 GB of internal storage capacity which can be increased up to 32 GB using micro SD cards. The display is 5” TFT LCD screen that is bigger than iPod Touch. It is a dual camera device with a 3.2 MP rear camera capable of capturing HD videos at 720p. The camera is auto focus with LED flash. It has inbuilt speakers with a SoundAlive Sound Engine. The player has Wi-Fi connectivity and the user can make VoIP calls and also use the front VGA camera for video chatting using Qik. The media player runs on Apple’s A4 CPU which is what Apple uses for both iPhone 4 and iPad 1. It has a display of 3.5 inch at a resolution of 480X320 pixels at 163ppi. Standing at 4.3×2.4×0.33 inches, iPod Touch weighs only 115 gm (4 oz). This amazing media player is available in different models with internal storage capacities of 8GB, 16 GB, and 32 GB. For connectivity, it is Wi-Fi 802.1b/g/n (802.11n 2.4 GHz only) allowing the user to browse the net. It supports all major audio and video formats and the quality of sound is mesmerizing. It has a built in lithium ion rechargeable battery with a music playback time of up to 40 hours which goes down to 7 hours if you are watching movies. While Galaxy Player 5 scores with a bigger screen, the display is still better in the 3.5” screen of iPod Touch.
