The key difference between the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and the Apple iPhone 7 is that Samsung galaxy S7 edge comes with the curved edge display, a superior display, and more memory and expandable storage features. The iPhone7, on the other hand, comes with smaller dimensions and large amounts of internal storage, as well as a high quality and efficient processor. In addition, the headphone jack for audio has been replaced by a lightning connector.
Let us take a closer comparison of both devices and see what they have to offer.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge – Features and Specifications
Although Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge came with a metal and glass design, the flat back and slim design somewhat felt awkward. It also lacked features like water resistance and expandable memory slots. With Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge devices, Samsung has gone about refining the existing phone to polish the off the rough edges rather than going for a brand new design.
Hardware
The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge comes with a Samsung Exynos 8 Octa chipset, where the cores are able to supply a speed of 2.3 GHz. The Samsung Exynos 8 Octa is known to be powerful and efficient.
Camera
The rear camera of the device comes with a resolution of 12 MP. This is a clever option, especially for low light conditions. The camera doesn’t jut out from the body of the smartphone, unlike in the previous models. The images that were captured also have punchier colors. The images were rich in detail.
Water Resistance
The device is IP68 rated and water resistant.
Expandable Storage
This device comes with an expandable storage support up to 200 GB.
Security
The device is secured with the help of a fingerprint scanner. The fingerprint registration process is also super-fast, and recognition of your fingerprints will be very fast.
Display
The display is a 5.5 inch super AMOLED display that comes with a slightly curved Gorilla Glass 4. This makes the screen transition towards the body soft. The edges have been rounded just like the Galaxy Note 5 ,making the phone easy to hold and comfortable in the hand although it is slightly larger than the previous model.
The resolution on the screen is able to provide crystal clear images, and the viewing angles of the display are great. The level of clarity of the display is also outstanding. The setting on the display can be adjusted to the preference of the user.
Battery
The battery capacity of the device is 3600mAH.
The Edge
The edge of the device gives you the ability to view the date and time easily. When the main display is turned off you will be able to view the clock and calendar through the edge. The Edge UX comes with many useful features.
Audio
Although many smartphone users opt for the earphones rather than using the built-in speakers of the device, the built-in speakers are able to produce crisp clear and loud sounds.
Software
The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge comes with the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system. The user interface is powered by touch Wiz. The UI is lighter and more responsive than previous versions.
IPhone 7 – Features and Specifications
The new iPhone 7 comes with improved performance, better camera, and user-friendly screen. The downside is, it lacks a headphone port this time. It is very similar to the look and feel of its predecessor, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S.
Storage
Storage option come in three flavors. The 32 GB, 128 GB, and the 256 GB options are what you will be able to get. Internal storage is far stable compared with external storage. So going for a higher storage option would be ideal.
Design
The design of the iPhone has not seen much change when compared with its predecessor. The dimension and the size of the device including the screen are almost identical to the previous version. The edges are rounded to provide comfort to the hand. Since iPhone is one of the best-looking phones in the market, a design change is not needed.
Headphone Jack
The iPhone has removed the headphone port from the device, claiming it to be an ancient port. This may irritate some people who are not prepared for such a change. To compromise, Apple has added a connector to convert the lightning port into a headphone jack. There are also lightning powered earbuds that will not need a connector to work.
Antenna Bands
The back of the device is not broken up by antenna bands this time. The back of the device is solid and looks pretty. The space gray color option which was available with previous models has been replaced by jet-black color.
Home Button
The Home button on the device is still there and comes with a new feature. This time, it will vibrate under the finger rather than click as it usually does. The fingerprint scanner is still there, but its function is different this time. The iOS 10 is designed to fire up the screen while picking up the phone. But some will miss the tactile click that provided a nicer feel and press.
Screen
The screen resolution may still be behind at near 720 p, but the screen is able to reproduce excellent color; the only downside may be the lack of sharpness when compared to Galaxy S7. The screen isn’t about the pixel density or the resolution, but the quality it brings with the high color gamut and design. The lack of a 1080p resolution and unavailability of upgrades on the display is still a disappointment.
Music
The lightning port can transfer tremendous amounts of data, obviously increasing the quality of the sound. The iPhone7 comes with a dual speaker on the outside. They are placed top and bottom to recreate stereo sound.
Camera
The camera has only seen a few tweaks when compared with its predecessor. The camera on the rear comes with a 12 MP resolution that does not overburden the processor. The camera comes with a more pronounced bump. The larger sensor will perform well in low lighting conditions. The front facing camera comes with a 7MP resolution that also is capable of better low light images.
Battery
The battery life of this device has seen an upgrade when compared to its predecessor. The A10 fusion chip is able to allow low power consumption and boost the four cores of the device.
