But not everyone can shell out $300 for a smartphone which prompts us to make a comparison of iPhone 4 with Samsung Gravity SMART, Samsung’s latest entry level smartphone that dares to make available Android Gingerbread experience to the users for just under $100.

Also variously known as Gravity Touch 2 and Samsung GT2 for T-Mobile, this smartphone is the first Android based Gravity.

Gravity SMART’s USP is its mailing abilities and a full QWERTY sliding keypad with Group Text. It runs on Android 2.2 Froyo and boasts a decent 3.2 inch capacitive touch screen. It also has SWYPE to allow users to give commands easily with their fingers and also to write emails faster. Gravity Smart is equipped with all standard smartphone features like accelerometer, proximity sensor, multi touch input method, touch sensitive controls and a 3.5 mm audio jack at the top.

The smartphone has 800 MHz processor and internal memory can be expanded up to 32 GB using micro SD cards. The phone is Wi-Fi, GPS with A-GPS, Bluetooth, micro USB port, and a full HTML browser that provides a pleasing surfing experience to the users. The smartphone has a 3 MP camera at the back that shoots pictures in 2048×1536 pixels and has LED flash. It can record videos but sadly, there is no secondary camera to make video calls. The phone has access to Android Market and fully integrated with Google Mobile Services.

How do you analyze the features of a smartphone that has become a part of the lifestyle of millions of people all over the world? It is impossible to not get biased but we shall try to remain as neutral as possible.

To begin with, the styling and the designing of the phone is exemplary and one can feel the exemplary engineering that has gone into making this amazing smartphone. It measures 115.2×58.6×9.3 mm and weighs just 137g making it one of the lightest and thinnest smartphones barring of course the legendary Galaxy S2 and Infuse 4G. It has a decent sized touch screen (3.5 inch) that utilizes LED backlit IPS TFT and produces images at a resolution of 640×960 pixels that is extremely bright. Probably retina display used by Apple is the best in the business and makes display a USP of iPhone 4. Add to it the oleophobic surface that is scratch resistant and one knows why the phone has become a darling of the users. There is the ubiquitous 3.5mm audio jack at the top, accelerometer, light sensor, proximity sensor, gyro sensor and multi touch input method.

The phone runs on iOS 4.2.1 which is upgradeable to the latest 4.3.x and has a powerful 1 GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor. Despite being so fast, iPhone 4 is a miser when it comes to battery consumption and uses only as much power as its predecessor. It has 512 MB RAM and comes in three models with 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB internal memory as it does not support micro SD cards. The phone is of course Wi-Fi802.11b/g/n, hotspot (only with upgrade to 4.3.x), GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP, GPS with A-GPS with an HTML Safari browser (no support for Adobe Flash player).

The smartphone is a dual camera device with an excellent 5 MP camera at the rear that shoots in 2492×1944 pixels, is auto focus, has LED flash, and can record HD videos in 720p at 30fps. It also has a secondary VGA camera to allow for video calling. The phone does not have FM radio. It is equipped with standard Li-ion battery (1420mAh) that provides excellent talk time of up to 7 hours in 3G.
