Sierra vs Silverado
There is a reason why two different manufacturers produce similar vehicles. The Sierra has been considered one of the most renowned pickup trucks manufactured by GMC. The Silverado by Chevrolet has many admirers as it gives a tough competition to the Sierra. Both vehicles have rich features some of which can be compared with each other.
Chevy launched its newest pickup truck, the 2011 Silverado HD. GM always wants to do better with the Sierra when it comes to the demonstration of its “truckiness” in comparison with the Silverado. A comparison between a 2009 Sierra and a 2009 Silverado tells us all that we need to know about both trucks better. GM chose to make Sierra HD pickup a behemoth. The overall silhouettes of both trucks are quite similar.
The cabin of the new Silverado is much smoother than its predecessor model 2007 Silverado. Chevy has used enhanced insulation materials that are used in sport utility vehicles. It has also done some improvements in the aerodynamics to reduce the wind noise. Chevy offers both work-oriented and SUV interiors in its WT, LS, LT and LTZ models. Chevy Silverado models come with an electronic stability system except for the V6 models. The Sierra also offers different cabin designs just like the Silverado. The work truck and SLE models are designed taking inspirations from the utility interiors. The dash design varies in Sierra’s SLT model where it offers upgraded materials and a BOSE stereo. The other options include a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat and a heated windshield-washer system. The Sierra V8 model comes with electronic stability control. Both Sierra and Silverado are spacious and well organized.
Silverado offers five engine sizes to choose from: 4.3-liter V6, 4.8-liter V8, 5.3-liter V8, 6.0-liter V8, and 6.2-liter V8. The transmission options are a four-speed automatic and a six-speed automatic. The GMC Sierra has eight engines and five suspensions to choose from. The Sierra is fitted with the roof mounted and side curtain airbags.
The look and design of both the trucks vary and is completely based on the buyer’s taste as to which one looks more appealing. The Chevy Silverado includes dual front airbags, anti-lock brakes, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The Sierra includes roof-mounted and side curtain airbags on the SLE and SLT as an option. The Silverado offers StabiliTrak electronic stability control whereas the Sierra includes an electronic stability control standard on V-8 models.
There is not much of a difference in the price range of the two masterpieces. The latest model of the Chevy Silverado range of pickup trucks is opined to be designed for the common pickup driver whereas the GMC Sierra is perceived to be designed for a sophisticated and tasteful driver.
