Difference Between Sneakers and Shoes

Shoes are one of the most common accessories used by human beings. They are used by people of all ages and both sexes. In fact, an individual wears them all his life right from the time he learns to walk on earth. There is another term sneaker that confuses many as sneakers look exactly like shoes. It becomes very difficult for people to differentiate between running shoes or athletic shoes and sneakers when they go to market to buy these accessories for athletic purpose. Though sneaker serves the same purpose as shoes, there are differences between the two that will be highlighted in this article.

Shoes

Shoes are an accessory worn by people on their feet for warmth and comfort. Shoes are made from leather and also synthetic fabrics like nylon and polyurethane that are used on top and bottom of the athletic shoes and sports shoes in general. Most people make use of these shoes that are easy to clean and maintain as all it takes to clean them is a wet piece of cloth. The sole of these shoes is made from polyurethane that is a flexible material and takes all the impact from obstacles on roads. For those who train or run on hard terrains, it is better to wear shoes with hard outsoles as they resist wear and tear and are very durable. Soft soles are good to wear in daily routine as they provide a lot of comfort while walking around.

Sneakers

Sneaker is a term that has become very common among people these days as they use it for sports shoes as if it is a synonym for them. People refer to all sorts of shoes with rubber soles as sneakers though it is not correct. The reason why these shoes got their name was because they made very little noise while walking because of their rubber soles. You could sneak up to someone else while wearing these shoes and hence the name. Today there is a huge variety of sneakers available in the market and you can have one for use in the gymnasium while there are also sneakers for jogging as well as running. Sneaker is a term that is mostly used in North America while the term for similar shoes in England and Australia is joggers and trainers.
