Difference Between Sony Ericsson Timescape UI and HTC Sense UI

Sony Ericsson Timescape is a feature of the User Interface (UI) of their new Android phones namely, Xperia X10 and the X10 Mini. Timescape program allows Facebook, Twitter, SMS and mail to be combined in to a flowing column on the home screen. HTC Sense is a UI developed by HTC targeting mobile devices that are running Android, Brew and Windows Mobile. The first version of HTC Sense was released in June 2009 on a HTC Hero phone. The latest version of HTC Sense is the HTC Sense 3.0, which was released in 2011.

Sony Ericsson Timescape

Timescape is a feature of the UI of Sony Ericsson Android phones. They have developed a custom layer on top of the Android system called User eXperience (UX). Timescape is one of the main applications contained in UX among other custom applications, themes and design elements. Sony Ericsson claims that Timescape combined with its sister app MediaScape would integrate the online and offline experience of the user really closely. Timescape app will bring emails, text messages, notes, Twitter and Facebook notifications in to a flowing column in the home page, that can be operated through the touch screen. This resembles a stacked deck of cards. For example, this will allow the user to search individual threads such as twitter or cut across all by searching for a specific team or a person.

HTC Sense

HTC Sense is a UI developed by HTC for mobile devices.the first Android phone that featured HTC Sense was HTC Hero and the first Windows phone to feature HTC Sense was HTC HD2. HTC Sense is based on the TouchFLO 3D design. An upgraded vesion of HTC Sense was released in 2010 featuring on the HTC Desire and HTC Legend smart phones. It contained new interface features such as Friend Stream widget that combines information in Twitter, Facebook and Flicker and allowed the user to access all of them from home screen at the same time. Today screen is one of the main features in HTC Sense, which is made up of several tabs. Number of unread SMS/MMS messages, emails and the current date are shown by updating the Messages, Email and Calendar icons. The newest version of HTC Sense is the HTC Sense 3.0, which contains improved features like new lock screen, new home screen, several new apps and the HTC Watch.

Difference between Sony Ericsson Timescape UI and HTC Sense UI

The main difference between Sony Ericsson Timescape and HTC Sense is that, HTC Sense is a UI developed by HTC for mobile devices, while Timescape is a one of the main custom applications that runs on the UX developed by Sony Ericsson. Timescape allows the user to manage their communication needs such as Facebook, Twitter, emails, photos, short messages in a single place. HTC Sense on the other hand is a UI that had evolved through several versions. While providing features like Today screen to ease the communication needs of the user, it also provides other features like lock screen and the HTC Watch.
