Sony Xperia Z5 Review – Features and Specifications

The Sony Xperia Z5 has been released as a trio in versions. They are namely the regular, Compact and the Premium versions. Sony, like the HTC brand, is struggling to gain market traction and finding it difficult to compete with leading brands like Apple and Samsung, who have captured a large segment of the mobile market. So it is high time that Sony introduces new and innovative technologies to gain momentum in the smartphone industry.

Design & Build

The design has not seen much of a difference since the Xperia Z was initially released. The design of this series is easily recognizable as it has been the design used by the company since the introduction of the Z series. The frosted glass cover gives the phone a stylish look, further enhanced by the metal frame finish.  The frosted glass also gives out a matt finish to the smartphone which is a key feature.

The colors that are available with this model include green, gold, white and graphite black.

Durability

The waterproof feature also comes with this phone. The card slot is covered by only one flap for convenience.

Dimensions

This model is built heavier and thicker than its predecessor. Its thickness is 7.3mm, which is thicker by 0.4mm, and it weighs 154g which is 10g heavier than the previous model.

Performance

The processor powering the Sony Xperia Z5 is a Snapdragon 810 processor. The RAM comes in 3GB, and the internal storage available with this camera is 32 GB, which can be further expanded using a micro SD card that can support up to 200 GB. Many of the top-notch brands do not come with this feature, which is a definite advantage for the Sony Xperia Z5.

Display

The Xperia Z5 has a 5.2 inch display which supports full HD. The Sony Xperia Z5 premium version comes with a newer screen which can support 4K for the first time with the Sony Xperia Series. The screen quality is good compared to other similar models. The water-resistive feature means even if the screen is wet it can be used normally.

Battery Life

The battery in non-removable and the capacity of the battery stands at 2900mAh which is 30mAh lower than the Sony Xperia Z3+.

Finger print sensor

The fingerprint scanner on the Sony Xperia Z5 is a bit different. The fingerprint scanner has been placed inside the power button and is situated on the side of the phone. If we pick up the phone, the thumb will fall right on the power button and which is more convenient and easy to use. Another feature is, it has been engineered to be very slim, which is impressive. It is accurate as well as quick, which is another added advantage.

Camera

The camera on the phone is another noteworthy improvement on the Sony Xperia Z5. It boasts of a 23 mega Pixel camera which has a 1 /2.3 inch sensor and an aperture of f/2. It is also accompanied by various features and modes to enhance the images even further. This is the same camera accompanied in the other models as well. There is also a physical camera button making it easy and launching the camera app convenient.

The camera now also comes with the fastest autofocus which is 0.03 sec thanks to the hybrid system that comes with the phone. Clear Image Zoom is another feature of the camera, which is able to zoom the image by 5X without any quality loss on the image. The low light performance of the camera is also great.

iPhone 6s Review – Features and Specifications

The iPhone 6S is a top-quality phone, which has many enhancements that are powerful and technologically advanced. Apple claims that the new A9 processor is 70% faster than its predecessor, the A8. There are many other improvements that have taken place with the iPhone 6S,  which will be followed by the section below.

Design

The iPhone 6S is almost a replica of its predecessor the iPhone 6S. If placed side by side the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6S will not show any physical difference. As with the iPhone 6, it is made in metal ceramic finish. The only relevant change that is not that visible is the increase in the thickness, which is in place to support 3D Touch technology. This feature is available on the Apple watch. The screen of the iPhone 6S is touch sensitive and at the same time it is pressure sensitive as well.

Colors

The phone comes in a variety of colors. The phone comes in gold, space gray, white and the unique, elegant rose gold.

3D touch

This can be considered one of the best  features that come with the iPhone 6S. This can be considered a definite upgrade from the iPhone 5S. It is a cool feature which will change the way Apple user have used the iPhone. The 3D touch feature is able to differentiate touch on the screen in different ways. This a simple change that apple users will have no trouble changing to. It supports the tap like on earlier models, but the real difference is, now the screen will know when the press is a bit harder and will open up a pop-up menu which includes a lot of features that are frequently used. It can be compared to a right click of a mouse. This feature can be turned off if the user feels uncomfortable, like the Touch ID feature which is not compulsory. These functions are referred to as peek and pop.

Holding down on an app like Main will enable to see a quick preview of the message. Holding down the finger even further will enable to see more information of the message. This is great or otherwise we will have to tap and tap again to view the above. The 3D touch feature has added extra functionality and flexibility which gives the iPhone a smoother and efficient functionality.

Display

The screen is identical to the one used in iPhone 6. Although iPhone 6S comes with a low-resolution screen, the screen is vibrant and colorful, making it a beautiful display. The screen size is 4.7 inches and the resolution supported by the screen is 1280 X 720 pixels. The screen has been made to be taller and wider giving the user more space to make use of. Although the phone is bigger, it is not hard to hold by the hand, and it screen can be dropped by half to make the screen reachable by a double touch on the home screen.

Camera

The camera of the iPhone 6S comes with a 12MP snapper, which was an upgrade that was expected. This will be an attractive feature for the customers as previous models did not support such a high resolution. But compared with its rivals like Sony and Samsung, it is still behind as they provide features like autofocus and extra pixels which give them an advantage in the camera department. It is also accompanied by the live photo feature, which is unique. This feature records 1.5 seconds after the photo was shot giving it a GIF effect. The camera is now sharper, capturing more detail than ever before. The colors are vibrant and accurate as well. The iPhone camera performs well in low light and other tough conditions as well.

In addition to the upgrade, the usual useful features provided by the iPhone are available with this model. These include time lapse and slow motion. The live photo option which captures a photo for 1.5 seconds it also a useful option. The front facing camera has also seen an upgrade to 5MP, which includes a face time sensor. To light up selfies, the screen briefly lights up while taking the photo for a brighter photo. 3D touch enables the user to  hold down a picture and play videos, which is known as Live Photos. The camera is also expected to support 4K video recording, but the storage of 16GB does not make any senses.

Processor & RAM

As expected, the iPhone 6S comes with an A9 processor with upgrades included. The A9 is able to perform 70 percent faster and 90 percent faster on graphics compared to the A8 processor. The processor is able to perform faster, which will be ideal for gaming. It has been constructed using 64 bit architecture which is able to perform fast and efficiently when opening and closing apps. The problem is that this architecture consumes much space leaving the iPhones 16GB storage capacity at a question mark. The RAM is expected to have an upgrade of 2GB, which is sufficient memory to run applications in a smooth fashion. The RAM size and the clock speed of the processor  have not yey been revealed;  we will have to wait and see.

Battery

The battery has yet to see any improvement from its predecessors, which is a bit disappointing. As the iPhone is slim, it has to inevitably sacrifice on the battery.  The new, efficient processor will be able to sustain the battery for a longer period, but it is a bit worrisome as the numbers are yet to be published.

Additional Features

The M9 motion co-processor has been built into the processor with stays on all the time. The Touch ID sensor has also seen an upgrade and is expected to perform faster and accurate than the previous version.
