T-Mobile MyTouch 4G vs T-Mobile G2
T-Mobile MyTouch 4G and T-Mobile G2 are two early 4G Android smartphones to experience T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network. They are premium 4G phone available with T-Mobile. Though both are manufactured by HTC, T-Mobile G2 comes with Google trademark and runs the stock Android 2.2 while MyTouch 4G runs HTC Sense on top of Android 2.2. HTC Sense has got a lot of small features that are very useful and fun. Both the phone perform well at 4G speed, multitasking and browsing are smooth and the call quality also good. You can do seamless browsing in both supported by Adobe Flash Player 10.1. The displays are responsive and pinch to zoom and tap to zoom work fine. Both have seven customizable homescreens.
Though both T-Mobile MyTouch 4G and T-Mobile G2 are from the same manufacturer -HTC and run on T-Mobile HSPA+ network they have many differences too.The main differences between T-Mobile MyTouch 4G and T-Mobile G2 are the physical keyboard in G2 and the front facing camera for video calling in MyTouch, and the RAM size also varies. Also, T-Mobile MyTouch differentiate user experience with its HTC Sense UI. On Application side T-Mobile G2 has access to entire Android Market and Google Mobile Apps from Google talk to Google Goggle. Meanwhile T-Mobile MyTouch also preloaded with many applications and entertainment packages. Some of them are Faves Gallery, Media Hub – direct access to MobiTV, Double Twist (you can sync to iTunes over Wi-Fi), Slacker Radio and the action movie Inception. Amazon Kindle, YouTube and Facebook are integrated with Android.
T-Mobile has priced both same at $200 on 2 year contract.
T-Mobile G2
T-Mobile G2 made by HTC with Google trademark was the first smartphone to support T-Mobile’s HSPA+ Network. It has a slideout keyboard and touchscreen with swype and trackpad for input. The keyboard is designed nicely for fast and accurate typing. The T-Mobile G2 runs stock Android 2.2. The advantage of the stock Android is that all upgrade to Android OS will come directly to your phone. T-Mobile G2 is powered by 800 MHz second generation Qualcomm MSM 7230 Snapdragon processor.
The other features include 5.0 megapixel auto focus camera with LED flash and 2x digital zoom, 720p HD video recording and play, 4 GB internal memory and 8 GB microSD card included to the device and it’s expandable up to 32GB. The shortcoming in the phone is the absense of front facing camera for video chat and video calling.
On the content side it has featured applications like Photobucket and Wolfram Alpha and has access to entire Android Market and preloaded with all google apps, from Gmail to Google Goggle.
T-Mobile MyTouch 4G
T-Mobile MyTouch 4G is the latest in the T-Mobile’s line up of MyTouch Android phones. T-Mobile MyTouch 4G run Android 2.2 with HTC Sense and support T-Mobile HSPA+ network. It features 3.8” high resolution WVGA screen with 1GHz Qualcomm MSM 8255 Snapdragon processor, 5.0 mega pixel camera with LED flash, full screen viewfinder and touch focus, VGA front facing camera, HD 720p video recording, 768MB RAM, 4GB ROM and 8GB microSD card included, GPS with navigation capability, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, swype text input, full web browsing with Adobe Flash Player 10.1 support.
Some of the other applications in T-Mobile MyTouch are Visual Voice Mail, mobile hotspot that can connect up to 5 devices and mobile video chat (powered by Qik) without buffering. However for web based applications such as qik and mobile hotspot you need to have the broadband package from T-Mobile.
T-Mobile MyTouch 4G offers three color choices, red, white and black.
The HTC Sense, which HTC calls as the social intelligence gives a unique experience to users with its many small but intelligent applications. It has added flavor to T-Mobile MyTouch 4G camera application with many camera features like full screen viewfinder, touch focus, onscreen access to camera adjustments and effects. With HTC sense homescreens can be personalized easily, it also offers a good music player, better than Android music player. Browsing is made enjoyable with features like magnifier, quick look up to look for a word, Wikipedia search, Google search, YouTube search, Google translate and Google dictionary. You even can add a new window for browsing or move from one window to another by zooming in and out. There are many other features with htc sense that enhance the performance of MyTouch 4G.
Difference between T-Mobile MyTouch 4G and T-Mobile G2
1. Design – T-Mobile G2 is slider phone with slideout physical keypad while T-Mobile MyTouch 4G is a candy bar. T-Mobile G2 is sleek and looks elegant which is an attraction in G2. 2. Keyboard – MyTouch has onscreen keyboard with swype technology while T-Mobile G2 has a combination of both physical and virtual keyboard. 3. Front facing Camera – MyTouch 4G is having a VGA camera for video calls but this is missing in T-Mobile G2. 4. Processor – T-Mobile MyTouch 4G is built with 1 GHz Qualcomm MSM 8255 Snapdragon processor while T-Mobile G2 has 800 MHz second generation Qualcomm MSM 7230 Snapdragon processor. Though clock speed is slower in G2, it load pages faster than in MyTouch. 6. RAM – T-Mobile MyTouch 4G has 768 MB while T-Mobile G2 has only 512 MB 7.
