The Bible vs. The Quran
The argument of religion is a predicament. It has been an ongoing battle inside the heads of each of its believers, inside the church and the mosque, in all of both of the religions’ reading and teaching materials, on the TV, the radio, on the streets with bullets and ammunitions, on the hearts of those who became the victim and the cold unvisited grave of those who laid their lives for it.
The argument of religion has been the most difficult and unrelenting issue of all times. It has been going on since the time of Abraham and his two sons: Ishmael and Isaac. The division not only became historical, it also became political and economical. Why so? Powerful leaders of both Christian and Islam countries have staged their differences; and the world economy had always and will constantly be affected with the waves of the warring countries.
To know the nature of the opposition of two of the world’s most powerful religion, Christianity and Islam, it would be important to understand its literature from where all teachings came from.
The Bible is a word that if translated in Greek would read as ‘ta biblia’, meaning the books. It is the collection of writings from many authors. It is a set of teachings that supposedly came from God and passed on to his prophets to be spread all across humanity and all over time. It is the book that has two versions: for Christians (Holy Bible with Old and New Testament) and for Jews (Tanakh with the threefold division of the Prophets, the Law, and the Writings) for which what both religion follow as a religious guide towards spirituality.
The following claims are highly opposed by the teachings of Quran. It is written in the Holy Bible that: (1.) There is one God in three personas— the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. (2.) Jesus is God made flesh and conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit. (3.) Jesus was crucified and rose from the dead. (4.) Holy Spirit is the third persona of the One God. (5.) Man is a sinner that needs salvation. (6.) Salvation could only be achieved through faith. (7.) Records numerous miracles and prophecies.
The Quran, on the other hand, is known as the finest piece of literature in the Arabic language. It is Islam’s’ most prized relic. The Quran is the collection of the Prophet Muhammad’s recitation about Allah. These speeches came from the angel Gabriel which the Muslims refer to as a holy spirit. The teachings inside this religious text are mankind’s guidance or verbal direction towards the path of morality and righteousness.
The Quran is agreeable to the bible. However, there are just some key points that the belief differs. The following are Qurans oppositions towards the contents of the Bible. (1.) There is only one god and that god has no parents, no children, or no equal. He is All-knowing and All-benevolent and gracious. (2.) Jesus is not God but merely one of Allah’s prophets. (3.) Jesus was not crucified, nor did he rise from the dead. The Christians were only deceived to believe such claims. (4.) Gabriel is the holy spirit, not a god, but Allah’s messenger. (5.) Man is naturally good. He is not evil. (6.) Salvation could be achieved through hardworks and sincerity. (7.) The Quran has no record of any miracles. It is a miracle itself.
Despite these opposed beliefs, each of the two religions viewed and respected the other as another monotheistic religion with high reverence to the God who created the universe and the things that came to be.
SUMMARY:
The Bible is for the Christians and the Jews while the Quran is for the Muslims.
The Bible is a collection of writings from different authors while the Quran is a recitation from its one and only prophet, Muhammad.
Both the Bible and the Quran are guides of its believers towards spirituality and moral righteousness.
