The key difference between thermo steel and stainless steel is that the thermo steel has the property to retain heat and thus, keep the temperature of a liquid as it is whereas stainless steel is an alloy of iron and chromium, which is important as non-corrosive steel.
The term thermo steel is a product name rather than a specific form of an alloy. But stainless steel is a specific form of an alloy, which is important in applications such as kitchen items.

What is Thermo Steel?
The term thermo steel is a product name used by Milton products such as Milton thermo steel bottle. They have used this steel to produce bottles that can keep the temperature of the liquid inside that bottle as it is. According to the Milton descriptions, the bottle can keep the liquid fresh and warm for about 8 hours. Further, this steel is lightweight, and therefore, the products also lightweight.
In the inside of the thermo bottle, there are several rings of stainless steel sheets. These sheets are wrapped and welded properly. In between two rings, there is a heat insulating material that can prevent the temperature by avoiding the heat loss.
What is Stainless Steel?
Stainless steel is an alloy of irons with around 10% chromium. Chromium is important in preventing the steel from undergoing corrosion when exposed to moisture and air. There is a thin layer of chromium oxide on the surface of the steel that protects the surface from rusting.
There are several forms of stainless steel as follows;
- Ferritic stainless steel – has a body-centred cubic structure in its microstructure.
- Austenitic stainless steel – has a face-centred cubic structure.
- Duplex stainless steel – this has a combination of both ferritic and austenitic
- Martensitic stainless steel – this contains a very high carbon content.

Summary – Thermo Steel vs Stainless Steel
Steel is a class of alloy that has different combinations of iron and other elements, such as carbon and chromium. Thermo steel and stainless steel are two important forms of steel. The difference between thermo steel and stainless steel is that the thermo steel has the property to keep the temperature of a liquid as it is whereas stainless steel is an alloy of iron and chromium, which is important as non-corrosive steel.
