Zoo and Sanctuary
Zoo and sanctuary are places where wild animals and birds are placed in protective asylum. Even then, zoo is one thing and sanctuary is another thing. Zoo is a place where animals and birds are in captivity of artificially created habitat. On the other hand, sanctuary can be called as the natural habitat of wild animals and birds.
Though people can see animals and birds in both zoo and sanctuary, there are certain limitations when coming to sanctuaries. In zoo, the public can see animals and birds in their captivity without any restrictions. But people cannot throng a sanctuary of their own and they have to go through certain procedures.
While the public has direct link to the zoo, the public does not have any direct link to a sanctuary. This means that a sanctuary is not open to the public or is open only in a limited way.
Zoo is a place that is built with the aim to educate and also to provide information on the wild animals and birds. When the animals and birds are kept inside cages or open enclosures in a zoo, the animals and birds in a sanctuary live a natural and normal life.
Zoo is based purely on commercial aspects. But sanctuaries are not like that. In a zoo, animals are provided lifetime care and are also bred. But in a sanctuary, the animals take care of themselves and they breed on their own.
In a zoo, the animals are not free to roam about as they like. But in a sanctuary, they can freely roam about as the place is their natural habitat and as there are no others to interfere.
