Differences Between Yasmin and Yasminelle

Yasmin vs Yasminelle

Women these days take care of their own bodies by getting the approval of their OB or own doctors, especially if they want to ‘regularize’ their bodily hormones, or normalize their cycle. Some take pills to attain this. On the other hand, some ladies who are sexually active want to ensure that they are prepared for the time they think they can be mentally and financially prepared before they can become mothers, and in line with this, they take pills. This is the topic for this article: Yasmin and Yasminelle pills.

For starters, let’s talk about what Yasmin and Yasminelle are. They are contraceptives. They both prevent pregnancy and they both work at making the lining of the woman’s uterine altered a bit, so it is more difficult for the sperm to reach the uterus. Some articles online say that while both Yasmin and Yasminelle can be taken in replacement of the other, it is best that you learn about the differences of both contraceptives. Currently, many women take these contraceptive pills as an alternative to weight loss instead of taking it as a contraceptive, which is what its main objective is. So how do these contraceptive pills differ from one another?

Yasmin

Yasmin is a known birth control pill. It has been proven quite effective. Its main ingredient, drospirenone, is a diuretic. This means that it is a substance that promotes urine production. Because Yasmin is diuretic, it means that it decreases bloating and water retention. Then again, on the subject of weight loss, Yasmin also contains a counterproductive weight retaining hormone called estrogen.

Yasminelle

Yasminelle is yet another known birth control pill. What is quite known about this pill is that it has a low dosage of a specific estrogen (ethynyl estradiol) and another specific progesterone (drospirenone). It works by making changes to a woman’s hormonal levels and makes the body think that the woman is pregnant, hence it would prevent ovulation. Like Yasmin, it makes alterations to the uterine lining, so it is difficult for the sperm to fertilize.

SUMMARY OF DIFFERENCES:

The ingredients are similar but the dosage isn’t. Yasminelle only has 20 mcg of ethinyl estradiol, while Yasmin has 30mcg.
Yasminelle has fewer hormones compared to Yasmin.
Yasminelle has a lower dose of estrogen.
With a lower dose of estrogen, there is a lower risk and chance of side effects.
A lower dose of estrogen would also mean higher chances of bleeding.

With all of the listed similarities and differences, it is up to you on what type of contraceptive pill, or weight-loss pill, you would choose to take. The bottom line, though, is that you should and must always consult with your physician before taking any of these pills. There is always a pre-checkup that would have to be done to make sure that you do not have any of the health problems that would not be compatible with Yasmin or Yasminelle. While you might like this type of alternative in not getting pregnant, or losing weight, each woman is different in terms of possible side effects upon taking any of these pills. At the same time, as you decide to take any of these contraceptive pills, it is imperative that you follow the dosage and the frequency when you start taking it. Like any and all types of contraceptive pills, you have to take it at the exact time daily until you consume one-cycle of pills and upon next purchase. Switching to another contraceptive would, as always, be better after consultation with your physician, and you have to consume one cycle of pills before switching.
